Why Quit Smoking

Do you have reasons why you want to quit smoking? I am sure all smokers have at least one reason to quit smoking. Reasons may include; saving money, getting rid of the stink, protecting your family from the effects of smoking, to improve your health, or how about to prevent becoming a statistic by dieing a quick and painful death due to a smoking related illness.

If you?re not interested in the truth about the dangers of smoking then don?t bother reading any further. However, if you are considering quitting smoking and are looking for information or motivation then I hope this article brings some use to you.

I am so angry about the fact that I smoked. Why the heck would I want to introduce something so dangerous and destructive into my body? Well the answer to that was because I was young and dumb. As I got older I could tell that smoking was having negative affects on my life. I could not keep up with my friends while playing sports, started getting sick more than I normally did, and my life started to revolve around my next smoke break. I have wanted to quit smoking for years before I actually succeeded. I tried over and over again to finally be nicotine free. Why was it so hard to quit smoking? The main reason for me was that I was scared to quit smoking. Part of me enjoyed smoking; it brought pleasure to me and helped me to relax. Having a cigarette meant it was ?me? time.

In order to quit smoking I felt like I would have to give up much more than cigarettes. I would have to give up those things that brought me pleasure such as; the boost of energy, the feeling of contentment, and feeling calm and relaxed. Lets not forget about these other feelings; having a hacking cough for weeks at a time, the hideous odor in your car, common cold lasts for 3 weeks instead of just a few days, and those surprising chest pains that come and go making you wonder if this is it or if you have lung cancer.

Have you ever watched someone die from lung cancer related to smoking? If you have you know it is not something you want to witness. Unfortunately, people aren?t diagnosed with lung cancer until well after it is set in. Smokers just don?t want to have to quit smoking. How long will they ignore the signs of cancer before going to the doctor? Is the fear of giving up smoking more than dieing of a painful death?

My mother-in-law was a wonderful woman whom I enjoyed spending time with and talking. Yes, she was a smoker in her early 50?s. Shortly after retiring she was diagnosed with lung cancer, stage 4. Her and the doctors did what they could to stop the cancer from spreading; she quit smoking, changed her diet, and alternate forms of medical treatment. The month after being diagnosed she seemed like herself. She began losing weight but for the most part she appeared as strong as before. After about six weeks the pain was to the point where it was unbearable. She was put on a morphine drip yet; you could still see that she was in pain. By this time she could not speak, walk, or do anything for herself. Two weeks later she passed away. It was just over two months from being diagnosed that she died. Two months can seem to pass with a blink of an eye at times. Imagine if you knew you only had two months to live how quick it would seem.

Why bother quitting smoking? Do you think that only people who have smoked for 30 years die of cancer? Maybe it just won?t happen to you. You could always hope but are you sure? What is it about smoking that won?t let you give it up? Think about it, the answer to that question may end up adding years to your life and give you a glimpse to what is really important. Millions and millions of people live smoke-free lives and have no regrets about doing so.

Quit Smoking With Hypnotherapy In Watford

Judging the success rate of a Hypnotherapist?s quit smoking session is not as easy as you might expect. As a Hypnotherapist working in the Watford area, it is one of the most commonly asked questions. However, a recent report into the subject, suggested that the only real way of getting 100% evidence of success from a client, would be to take a blood sample from them, and then test it for nicotine. Since this sounds a little farfetched to me, let me explain to you a little about how I measure my success for Quitting Smoking using Hypnotherapy in Watford.

Firstly let me point out, that I offer a free consultation. The purpose of this from the clients point of view is that it allows them to build rapport with me and ask any questions they may have, before paying for any therapy. From my perspective, it allows me to ensure that the client is genuinely motivated to stop smoking. If they are not motivated to give up smoking, then I will not do the therapy with them. There are a few reasons why, one is that often, if a person isn?t motivated to stop, it?s because they like smoking and someone else wants them to quit. If I worked with this person, it is unlikely that they would be successful which is bad publicity for my therapy practice in Watford, and would also decrease their faith in hypnotherapy, making them less likely to use this method for giving up smoking in the future.

Secondly, the therapy is done in one session. After that session, if at anytime in the future you should happen to start smoking again, you can comeback for free (providing you have paid for lifetime support.)

So the way I measure my success, is by noting that in all of the quit smoking sessions I have done, only 2 have returned for a further session. This means that the others were either successful, or were not successful but decided that they wanted to remain as smokers, and waste their money, which is up to them, silly billies!

If you live in the Watford area and are looking for a Hypnotherapist to help you quit smoking, then please take a look at the testimonials on my website.

Quit Smoking Tobacco

Quitting a physical and emotional addiction like cigarette smoking is far from easy. Many people make many attempts to shake the nicotine monkey from their backs without a lot of success.

Because of its addictive nature, tobacco can exert overwhelming control over many people?s lives. The physiological and psychological effects of years of tobacco consumption are often so difficult to break that a lot of people give up before they are able to kick the habit.

Mood swings, increased appetite and general anxiety are all prevalent in the first couple of days when anyone is trying to stop smoking. Plenty of people are teetering on the threshold of abstinence when the withdrawal symptoms become more than they can bear and they give in to the cravings. Most times, if they could just get past these urges without lighting up at that particular minute, chances are they would be victorious when the next wave of cravings comes upon them.

The physiological, physical and emotional addition to tobacco products has been well documented. Addiction research foundations have spent many years and a lot of money trying to determine ways and means to encourage people to quit smoking. Most people will attempt to try to quit smoking at least once prior to being able to break free of its powerful draw. Some of the techniques smokers have used to quite include: ? Chewing nicotine laced gum. ? Wearing nicotine based patches in ever decreasing doses. ? Cold Turkey ? Nominally the most unsuccessful method. ? Hypnosis ? Laser therapy ? Drug therapy ? Some doctors will prescribe anti-depression drugs to smokers desperate to quit.

Unfortunately, many of these methods fail, which gives smokers the misguided impression that they will forever remain slaves to tobacco and its detrimental effects.

Smoking, admittedly an unhealthy and addictive habit, is becoming less and less socially acceptable. Wide spread smoking bans in bars, restaurants and other public places have reduced the numbers of places people can indiscriminately light up, which may, over time, be a contributing factor in reducing the incidents of tobacco addiction.

Dire warnings, conclusive proof of its havoc and astronomical increases in the cost of tobacco products are not, however, having an overwhelming effect on the success rate of people who attempt to quit. Although the numbers of people who have kicked the habit is increasing, some research indicates that others are ignoring all the predictions and are taking up the habit. Many young people, especially females, think that smoking cigarettes will help them in their efforts to become or remain thin. Unfortunately, this quest for the perfect body image is putting their lives in danger. In effect, by using tobacco product to control appetite, these people are literally dying to be thin.

Are You Ready To Quit Smoking For Good?

So many people out there today are trying to quit smoking for one reason or another. I understand that it is very difficult to try and break this habit.

First off, my name is Will, and I started smoking when I was 15 years old. I started off by stealing cigarettes from my mother's purse once or twice a week until eventually, by the time I was 16 I was going to the store to buy my own pack. Over the following 15 years I tried to quit smoking at least a dozen times without success. The longest I remember going without a cigarette was about three months, when I used a nicotine patch. There were many times when I would last a few days or weeks without smoking; but nothing substantial.

If you are anything like me, you have probably thought of many reasons to quit smoking. Some of my reasons included; the obvious health benefits, saving money, having more energy and being able to stay inside at break time (especially during these cold Canadian winters). All of these are good reasons to quit smoking and should probably be a part of everyone's list but you still need to go further than just that. You need to make your reasons to quit smoking as specific as possible; you need that "Ultimate Reason". If you want to quit smoking so you will have more energy don't just say "I am going to quit smoking so I have more energy". Try something like "I am going to quit smoking because last week the elevator at work was out of service and I almost passed out after going up 20 stairs". This is much more personal and powerful.

Many experts say that smoking addiction is 10% physical and 90% mental. I would tend to agree with what the experts are saying. When you are having your morning coffee your brain automatically associates that with smoking a cigarette. The same applies when having your favorite cocktail or after a meal. We all have our own certain times when we seem to need a smoke and those are the times we need to overcome. As far as the 10% physical, that is the easy part. There are many products out there that will supplement nicotine into your system and I suggest that you browse around and find something to help you out. After all, you don't want to just give a 90% effort to quit smoking, or worse, only give the 10%.

New Year's is right around the corner and there will be a lot of people giving a half-hearted attempt to quit smoking. My hope is that you will be able to find the strength you need to overcome this nasty addiction. I won't lie to you and tell you that quitting is easy because it will probably be one of the hardest things you will ever do. I am here to tell you that it is possible to be successful with the right tools and support.

Best of luck to all of you trying to quit smoking this holiday season!

Stop Smoking Programs - What Should I Look For When Picking A Quit Smoking Program?

When you are considering a program to quit smoking, it is important to understand some of the methods in which it touches base on, helping you understand the problems that you will face when you give up smoking and how to cope with them.

Not only is your own will and determination important, but the caring and support of those around you when things get rough. Some of the best stop-smoking programs include counseling, both individually or in groups, and therapy.

The therapy is different from counseling as it is in reference to the individual and how they are responding to quitting smoking. It is decided on the basis of an individual's health, for which a smoker is required to undergo a full medical check up.

Most of these stop-smoking programs are normally spread over a period of 2 weeks. During this period, trained counselors conduct anywhere from four to seven sessions, the duration of which ranges from 20 to 30 minutes. The duration of the total program or the sessions can be modified based on the needs of the participating group and the individual involved. The programs are invariably led by people who have had considerable experience in assisting people give up smoking.

One excellent group that runs such programs is Nicotine Anonymous, which works on the same principles as Alcoholics Anonymous. Like AA, smokers can attend all meetings free of cost and have a continuous support group on a weekly basis. The American Lung Association, Health Department, and American Cancer Society also sponsor such free programs and support groups for smokers who are trying to quit smoking.

There are so many programs to choose from in regard to quitting smoking, it is best to research how legitimate they are before joining. It is never easy to quit anything, but smoking seems to be one of the worst. Looking around at all the programs, realize what you will be up against - being honest with yourself - while also looking at the options should be carefully done before beginning.

It is pretty hard to be objective about an addictive drug that is present in the body about three or four days after quitting the nicotine, but to be truthful and honest about what is going to happen and what it will take to successfully quit is what it takes.

However, before joining any such program, you need to do some research. You must avoid programs that are not ethical, or programs that use injections or pills as the only method of treatment. The programs that refuse to disclose details of the chemicals used in injections must surely be shunned. So should be those programs that charge high fees or promise instant results.

And most of all, you must remember that it takes time and patience to give up smoking. Most smokers have been at it for quite awhile, and won't be able to quit overnight. But once you do, food will taste better and your sense of smell will be back to normal. Shortness of breath will be gone, and you will return to better health. Join a program that is well planned and willing to help you on a long-term basis for a major future goal.

Quit Smoking Action Plan - Begin With The End In Mind

Counselors and therapists suggest that the best way to quit smoking is to have a stop smoking plan. It becomes your roadmap, a guide to give up smoking, when things get rough. However, the success of the plan depends on your will and determination, and they will keep you from smoking down the road. The best-laid plans go wrong because the smoker cannot give up the urge for that one last cigarette after quitting, which always leads to another one.

The first step in the stop smoking plan is to decide an actual date that you are going to take your last cigarette. The stop date can be any date - a week from now, a month from now or even three months from now. However, for your resolution to work it should be as early as possible. The next stage is the most difficult as it deals with withdrawal symptoms like mood changes, depression, irritability, emotional distress, etc. If you don't think you will have any, you are totally underestimating the power of the nicotine, as you will go through actual pain withdrawals, similar to drug withdrawals. A nicotine replacement therapy is the best option to fight withdrawal symptoms as under this therapy, you can trade your cigarette for a nicotine patch or gum. This ensures a minimum amount of nicotine in your body even though you are not smoking. The treatment usually spans a period of six months or more for complete withdrawal. The last step is called maintenance or not smoking or using an aid at all - the nicotine will be gone permanently from your system. By avoiding places and people where smoking is common, you will be more apt to succeed on this level. It is important to constantly remind yourself the reasons for quitting.

A common method adopted by most people is to smoke as normal until the day they actually quit, and then cold turkey all at once. This is a hard way, and most people do not have the incentive to do it successfully, as you need a very strong willpower to successfully succeed at stop smoking. A lot has to do with how addicted a person actually is to the nicotine. A better way and easier on the body is to gradually reduce your nicotine intake, so that your cigarette consumption is down to the minimum by the time you the actual day designated to quit. There will always a danger of going back to cigarettes and to avoid this, a person can attend counseling sessions or become an active member of support programs. You can also seek the support of friends and family members to avoid a rebound. Another good way to suppress the urge is to take up a new hobby that keeps you busy. If a relapse occurs do not be discouraged. You can try again.

Quitting Smoking - Withdrawal Blues and How to Handle Them

One of the main obstacles to quitting smoking is the dread of uncomfortable symptoms caused by the body's withdrawal from nicotine. Just the thought of it can bring many smokers out in a sweat and make them quickly shelve their decision to quit. There's no denying these feelings are real. But most peak after 48 hours. And the way you deal with them is crucial to your success in quitting.

The first feeling smokers experience is one of loss. It's an unpleasant sensation of emptiness with the painful undertone that you are being deprived of something. Just remember what you're being deprived of is nicotine, a toxic addictive drug that has kept you enslaved since you first drew it into your lungs. Activity works well here. As part of your quit-smoking game plan you should set up a routine preferably involving some physical activity. Once you get involved in some sport or exercise, thoughts of smoking will fade.

Then there's the famous feeling of irritability that make a ex-smoker so difficult to be around. You feel miserable and tense because you're body is craving its habitual fix of nicotine. Much of what you're experiencing results from your nervous system returning to normal after years of nicotine-driven stimulation. It normally last for up to two weeks. Again draw on your grab-bag of tricks - take deep breaths, walks, practice relaxation techniques, eat fruit...whatever works for you.

Finally and perhaps worst of all there's the feeling that a cigarette is the most important thing in the world. Nothing else exists that can replace it. You try all the substitutes - eating, drinking juice, gum, everything. But nothing comes close. And you feel that without cigarettes, you'll never be able to enjoy yourself again. All you can do here is breath deeply, visualize the clean you, and reassure yourself that this feeling will pass. It will in a few minutes. It will come back but each time it will be weaker and weaker until one day you realize with joy that it's gone.

In reality the withdrawal blues are never as bad as people fear. What's more they don't last long, a month at most. And if your quit-smoking game plan is in place, you'll handle them easily. So don't delay. Make the decision to quit now. Set a date and prepare. It's not as hard as you think.

Quit Smoking Hypnosis Seminars - What Does Hypnosis Have To Do With Quitting Smoking?

In a hypnotic procedure to change a habit or a behavior, more emphasis is laid on the psychological healing of a person rather then physical. The hypnotherapist will talk about the benefits of not smoking during the time you are in a state of trance, and you will appear to not be aware of what is being said. When you come out of the trance, your mind will be conditioned to want to stay away from cigarettes totally. There will be no withdrawal symptoms experienced by a person.

The stop smoking hypnosis seminars are an attractive option for smokers who do not want to go for nicotine replacement therapy or use other aids to quit smoking, or they have tried any number of them and have found it unsuccessful. These seminars are held in virtually all major American cities and you can register by paying a nominal fee. Group seminars are usually held in the form of a single session and run for a maximum of 2 hours - open sessions for all - and usually with a decent success rate. If one session doesn't work, you can undergo a re-consultation. The first forty minutes is an informative session where a practiced and a trained hypnotherapist speak on the benefits of the hypnosis program. There might be instances when a smoker who has actually quit smoking with the help of the hypnosis program may also share his experiences, with the actual procedure beginning after the briefing.

There are chances that the group hypnosis seminar may not produce the desired results for some of you, and this may happen to anyone. This is because the degree of hypnosis required for placing people in a trance usually varies from individual to individual, and the motivating factor for quitting also varies. If you have a tendency to be distracted by small noises or cannot hold your attention, then group hypnosis is not for you. A better option in these cases would be to go for a one-on-one hypnotic procedure. Also, you need to check the background of the hypnotherapist before registering for a seminar. There are some hypnotists who are very good at their work but there are some who are average. You need to find the ones who does what they say, and doesn't use a gimmick to win you over.

Quit Smoking Hypnosis - One Of The Ways To Quit Smoking

Quit smoking hypnosis can help you to stop a potentially dangerous habit. I will now do my best to enlighten you about this fascinating method and its possible benefits. So, take a deep breath and read on!

Why is it so difficult to quit smoking even if I want to?

Through conscious and repeated smoking, you have formed a subconscious habit. Now that you consciously want to quit smoking, you find that your subconscious is still programmed to repeat the habit when triggered by certain circumstances, thoughts or emotions. Hypnosis attempts to reprogram your subconscious to reject the smoking habit.

You are also addicted to the stimulant nicotine found in tobacco smoke. When you stop smoking your body will gradually get rid of the nicotine within a few days.

How does quit smoking hypnosis work?

Hypnosis puts you in a relaxed and focused state of mind where you are less conscious and your subconscious mind is more open to suggestion. Imagination and your senses play a big part in the process. If you can imagine it, you can believe it, and then you can achieve it.

Is quit smoking hypnosis effective?

Thousands of smokers have quit smoking through the power of hypnosis. Hypnosis is especially effective when dealing with addictive behaviors. Lighting up a cigarette, holding it in your hand and inhaling and exhaling the smoke can become a relaxing ritual. Hypnosis relaxes your mind and body while subtly changing your perception of smoking.

Where can I find quit smoking hypnosis help?

You have a number of options available:

1. You can search for hypnotists in your area which might assist you in your quest to quit smoking for good.

2. Search for recordings of a quit smoking hypnosis program available on cassette or compact disc.

3. Some internet merchants offer downloadable recordings in MP3 format.

What are the possible benefits of quitting smoking today?

* You can continue smoking while doing a quit smoking hypnosis program. You can quit when your subconscious attitude towards smoking has changed. That does not mean that you will experience no withdrawal symptoms. But your desire and willpower to quit smoking will be much greater.

* You can become healthier. Stop smoking and you can decrease your chances of having a heart attack, developing emphysema or lung cancer.

* You can save money. Depending on how much you smoke, you can save $400 to $800 per year. You could also be saving money on future medical bills.

* You can feel better, cleaner and more energetic. How much is that worth to you?

In conclusion, there is more than one way to quit smoking now. Quit smoking hypnosis is one way to achieve it. Remember that old habits, even if they die hard, can be replaced by new habits. If you wish, you can change your smoking habit and become a nonsmoker for life.

Imagine that.

3 Types of Quit Smoking Cravings

If you are a smoker one of the best things you can do for yourself is to quit smoking. Many smokers have either thought about quitting or tried to quit within the past year but did not succeed. Why is this? It not only hurts the smoker but the people close to him or her. For most, nicotine has such a strong hold on their life that quitting seems to almost be impossible. Well it is NOT impossible. Millions of smokers have quit smoking and stay quit. You can too. There are three types of cravings that make quitting smoking difficult and the better you understand them and prepare for them the better your chances of quitting smoking.

The most obvious craving you will experience after you quit smoking is the one associated with nicotine withdrawal. Nicotine withdrawal will affect you physically as your body adjusts to not having nicotine in it. This period of time can be quite uncomfortable and many people relapse due to nicotine withdrawal. Common nicotine withdrawal symptoms include: feeling irritable, difficulty concentrating, depression, headache, anxiety, feeling lightheaded, increase in appetite, and sleep problems. The feelings associated with nicotine withdrawal will come and go. You most likely will encounter only a few of these nicotine withdrawal symptoms, typically at different stages in the quit smoking process. Be reassured they will not last, they typically come and go quickly and you will find that anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks they will subside almost completely.

The next type of craving you may experience after you quit smoking is the cravings associated with habit. Just think about how many years you have smoked. There are specific feelings and or time of the day you like to have a cigarette. For example, I like to smoke while I talk on the phone. I felt like when I was on the phone it was a great opportunity to go outside and light up. The longer the conversation the more I got to smoke. This became a habit for me. When I quit smoking it was difficult at times because the phone would ring and I would instantly think about grabbing a cigarette. Other examples of habit cravings include: after having an alcoholic beverage, going to the store where you used buy cigarettes, driving in your car, finishing a meal, getting angry, being bored, and taking a break. As with nicotine withdrawal cravings, they will come and go. Just wait them out. Each day you make it not smoking the easier it will be. Build yourself up by telling yourself you can do it.

There is one last type of craving you will experience after you quit smoking and that is memories of smoking. For me this type of craving has lasted the longest. The nicotine withdrawal cravings and the habit cravings lasted at most 30 days. However, memories of smoking still creeps up every now and then and reminds me how nice it was to kick back on the back porch and have myself a nice relaxing cigarette. Dealing with this type of craving is relatively easy compared to the other two. The key here is not to get caught up in the pleasant memories about smoking. You quit smoking for a reason, one of which was it was killing you and those close to you. Simply reminding yourself of the reasons why you quit smoking can pretty much squash this craving.

The Tobacco Conspiracy-Why You Have Not Been Able to Quit Smoking

Billions of dollars are at stake. Millions of deaths result. Top corporate executives sit around the boardroom and discuss ways to improve their market share. Their success depends on keeping you smoking and getting people that don't smoke to start. It' s all about the billions.

http://hop.clickbank.net/?vancesj28/qsrnp

The tobacco companies have very deep pockets. They have spent billions of dollars in advertising over the years and they know how to keep their customers. They want you to die a smoker. Their bottom line depends on it. And you will if you do not quit.

What if I told you that stopping smoking was easy? That smoking is a body and mind addiction. Yes, body AND mind!

I don't know anyone that actually picks up a cigarette and goes, " mmmmm, tastes great!" Do you? Of course not. Your body rejects it. It coughs, hacks, spits, and does everything that it can to tell you this is bad stuff. You started because your mind was thinking how cool you will be, how much older it will make you look and your body is obeyed. Now you are addicted.

http://hop.clickbank.net/?vancesj28/qsrnp

Everyone starts this way. EVERYONE. You had to use your mind to convince your body or you would reject it.

I find it fascinating that almost all methods of quitting smoking do not take into consideration the mind. There are pills and patches and inhalers and gums. All these programs have a very low success rate.

Doesn't it make sense to use the very part of you that started the whole thing - Your mind?? Or course it does.

Everyone starts to smoke for some sort of motivating reason. If I gave you a piece of food that was stinky, burned your throat and made you cough and gag, how many pieces would you eat? I don't think very many. See, it would be unnatural for you to want more.

Smoking is not natural or everyone would be smoking. You cannot grow a cigarette tree in your backyard or a cigarette plant in your garden. They are not natural. Tobacco may be natural but cigarettes are far more than tobacco with an estimated 4000 ingredients added! The list is highly guarded and protected by law as a trade secret. Imagine that. It's the public's health and it's a trade secret. Something isn't right.

But one thing that is right is the decision to quit smoking. Quitting smoking is the one thing that will immediately improve your life and the life of those around you. When a person realizes that quitting IS a Body and Mind process it makes the process much easier.

QUIT SMOKING the painfree way. No stress, no cravings, no weight gain, no pills, patches or gums. Check out our website and why we can boast a 90% success rate with our 100% fully guaranteed Quit Smoking Right Now Program: http://hop.clickbank.net/?vancesj28/qsrnp

Do you wish to quit smoking?

Many a times, we often come across people puffing and enjoying smoking cigarette. Do we feel good when the smoke containing chemicals, insecticides, explosives enters our respiratory system? The answer is going to be no. Then what is the reason that the person who smokes relishes each puff?

There are many reasons; a smoker gives, such as having the feeling that he looks cool or smart while smoking or smoking shall help in weight loss. Some people also give the excuse that they are relieved of the stress while smoking.

All these are myths because smoking can only reduce the life span of a person and lead other person inhaling the smoke prone to lung cancer. It is easy to quit smoking if a person wishes to do so.

The best method is to stop smoking with the help of one's own will power. It is possible by working out a planned therapy but if it becomes hard to quit then medications are also available that help in quitting smoking.

Chantix is one such effective smoking cessation pill that helps quitting smoking easily. It works by blocking the brain receptors that help in continued addiction and lessens the cravings to smoke. Chantix has Varenicline (as the tartrate salt) as its main component, which is a white to off white and slightly yellow solid powder soluble in water.

It is an FDA approved medication and works well but could lead to certain side effects such as Nausea, Sleep disorder, Gas sleeplessness, Constipation, Headache, or Loss of taste.

Another effective method to stop smoking is to follow the basic steps: S=Set a quit date. T=Tell family, friends, and co-workers that you plan to quit.
