The Gift of Quitting Smoking

The gift of quitting smoking is more than just the freedom from nicotine. When you quit smoking you are setting yourself free. Free from the constant running to buy cigarettes, the looking for a place to smoke, and the social ostracism. When you quit smoking you are enabling a whole different life to come to you.

The Struggle

Quitting smoking is not an easy task and many people struggle for years as they try to quit. Smokers who want to quit are constantly looking for the best advise and techniques that will help them quit for real this time. So many smokers try quitting just to start back up in a week or month or year later.

How to become smoke-free is not an easy question. Tobacco and nicotine have different effects on different people. So there is not a cookie cutter recipe to giving up smoking or tobacco use. Many people are able to quit smoking and be smokeless for the rest of their lives, but they still feel like they are constantly struggling to not smoke a cigarette.

For people who are contemplating quitting smoking it can be a scary idea. Cigarettes and nicotine have become part of their daily life. They have worked their lives around when and where they can get a cigarette. Most of their friends may also be smokers, which will make quitting even more difficult for them.

What to do?

The best approach for people who want to quit smoking is to start building a base of friends and family that are supportive of their interest in quitting. Once the word is out that a person wants to stop smoking there may be other friends that smoke who would like to quit as well.

Support during the cessation period is extremely important and can be a precursor to the person sticking to their stop smoking plans. If you are surrounded by people who are genuinely proud of you, when you quit, and encouraging to you it is easier to quit smoking.

Quitting smoking is not only a gift to the smoker but it is also a gift to their family. Many families have struggled for years trying to get a loved one to quit smoking. Even smokers who constantly smoke away from their loved ones are still bringing the smell and discomfort into their home. It is a gift to a family when a smoker decides to quit and start working towards a being a healthier person.

Even smokers who quit smoking cold turkey continue to have medical risks. The medical risks of smoking are extreme and include things like lung cancer and other respiratory ailments. Smokers are also prone to yellowing of the teeth and bridle hair. It is a gift to the smoker when they finally decide to start putting their health in front of their desire to smoke cigarettes.

The freedom that not smoking can bring a person is a great motivation for smokers of any level. Even extremely heavy smokers can be motivated to quit smoking when they realize they are taking their own health and well being away from the people that love them the most.

Quitting smoking is one of the most difficult addiction-breaking processes one can go through. For more helpful, supportive tips, articles and information sources on facing this challenge please visit us at: http://www.quitsmokingcoldturkeynow.com.

Quit Smoking - Success Can Be Yours Only If...

One of the most important resources that anyone has when making a healthy change to their life, is their decision to do something different. This is never truer when successfully stopping smoking

Trying to quit smoking for the wrong reasons is more likely to fail than succeed. A typical wrong reason might be the reason of convenience. Essentially this is when you decide to stop smoking, not because you are necessarily ready or committed to stopping, it is just that a convenient situation has occurred for you.

For example, a husband or wife, or friend or partner, who is also a smoker makes the suggestion that it would be a good idea to stop together. On the face of it this seems to be a great idea because you can support each other in remaining stopped. There is the added sense of doing something together which you might call camaraderie or team spirit. In other words, the sense of not being alone in doing this.

Yet in reality, whilst both participants know they ought to stop smoking at some point in time, usually on this occasion it usually means that one person is really ready to stop but the other is going along with it because it is convenient. The other person has got caught up in this being a good idea without giving it too much thought.

Now what is likely to occur is that the person who hasn't really made up their mind to stop, will at some point try and persuade or cajole the other into just having that one. If they succeed in persuading the other to smoke, they will both fail. This is like colluding, just as like the way they probably colluded to smoke the very first time when they were young. In fact you smoked because your peers did it and you wanted to be part of that crowd and accepted. So this collusion is an example of the same sort of influence happening again.

It is essential therefore to quit smoking for your own reasons and not to do it out of convenience. This convenience aspect will often come into the equation when someone decides to stop smoking with the help of a hypnotherapist. For example, the wife has decided to stop smoking with hypnotherapy. The wife, although motivated to stop smoking now, will not have had hypnotherapy before and may have some anxiety about it. A way of overcoming that anxiety is to encourage the husband to quit with the aid of hypnosis too. Here again one person is persuading the other to quit when they haven't really reached their time and decision to quit.

Any professional hypnotherapist will be keen to maintain a good reputation of success. In doing so the hypnotherapist needs to ensure that both husband and wife really do want to stop now. This being the case, then doing it together can be a real asset as the sense of doing it with others can strengthen their resolve to stick to their decision.

As an experienced hypnotherapist I emphasise to people who come along in pairs for quit smoking hypnotherapy sessions, whether mates, husband and wife, or partners, that they should be there for each other and to stick to their decision to quit smoking for good and not to collude together to smoke.

Quitting Cigarette Smoking or Any Addiction-How Much Do Your Habits, Beliefs and Self-Image Hurt?

Just how powerfully are your habits and beliefs and self image hurting your chances to quit smoking? How much do they control our addictions? How can we use their power to replace our self-hurtful addictions with empowering addictions. Whether your addiction is cigarette smoking, or gambling, or wasting your life away watching tv.

After failing to quit smoking miserably at least a dozen times - being sucked back into that destructive habit - addiction - time and time again - going through the agony, the cravings, the anger, over and over - how was I able to turn off my smoking addiction like a light switch? From being totally locked to my cigarette smoking addiction to being totally and completely free of it? Like it never happened?

What could do that?

Since the quit smoking program I used, dealt directly with habits, beliefs and self-image, it begs the question, ?just how much do habits, beliefs and self-image control our addictions?" Perhaps more importantly "how can we get them moving us in the direction we truly want to go"?

One self-improvement author I've studied, Anthony Robbins, has overwhelming examples graphically showing us this power of belief, in his books Unlimited Power and Awaken the Giant Within.

Could there be enough power in belief to actually affect something a certain as arthritis? In Unlimited Power, Robbins recalls the experience Norman Cousins had when visiting the great musician, Pablo Casals.

At this time Casals had arthritis ?so debilitating that he needed help dressing?, as well as having emphysema. In fact, Casals had to struggle to get to and arrange himself on his piano bench, his hands swollen and fingers clenched.

But when he began to play, Cousins described Casals amazing transformation. ?The fingers slowly unlocked?his back straightened?he seemed to breath more freely.? ??his body was no longer stiff and shrunken but supple and graceful and completely freed?? Such was the belief that Casals had in the renewing power of ?music?.

What about the chemical balance in your body? Can belief alone actually make measurable changes? Robbins notes the case of a women with a split personality. In one personality she had normal blood sugar levels. But in her other personality, where she believed herself to be diabetic, ?her whole physiology changed to that of a diabetic?.

What about the affects of pharmaceutical drugs? How much is their affect on us decided by our "beliefs"?

There's an answer to this in a study of two groups of people with bleeding ulcers, Robbins refer's to. One group was told they were getting a drug that ?absolutely produced relief?. The other group was told their drug was experimental, and the results were uncertain. The outcome?

?70% of the first group experienced significant relief from their ulcers?, while only 25% of the second group had similar results?.

But wait! Here's the truly amazing part - all the participants of the test, both groups, ?received a drug with no medicinal properties at all?. The only difference was their beliefs! Take a minute to let that sink in.

In Awaken The Giant Within, Robbins recalls an experiment with 100 medical students supposedly testing two new drugs.

One group was given a pill they were told was a super-stimulant. The other group was told they were given a pill that was a super-tranquilizer. They were actually given the opposite of what they were told they had.

Fully half the students had physical responses exactly as they expected - what they "believed" would happen! Exactly the opposite of what their bodies should have experienced!

What they believed was more powerful than the chemicals in their systems!

Robbins also refers to Dr. Bernie Siegel, a Yale professor and best selling author; and research he?d done with multiple personality disorder patients. Dr. Siegel's studies document things like a patients eye color changing as their personality changed, physical marks disappearing and reappearing, diabetes or high blood pressure coming and going depending on the patients beliefs about which personality is occurring.

So there are many, many examples of a tremendous power in belief.

It looks like maybe the best, most effective way to quit smoking is to get your beliefs, your habits and your self image working for your goal to get rid of your smoking addiction. To help perhaps with any addiction.

And here's maybe the most important point of this whole discussion - since this is something "in you" - a part of you - you can take direct control!

Imagine - "you in control"! Learn how to manipulate your beliefs and self-image and you can exercise great control over your habits and your addictions! Perhaps beyond your wildest dreams!

Joseph Casey developed a powerful system "The Breakthrough System for Becoming a Non-Smoker" and "The Secret Silent Litany" - putting you in control of your belief's, self-image and smoking habit so now you can feel like a "life-time non-smoker"!

After failing to quit smoking over a dozen times he discovered 4 powerful mind-sets and a unique delivery system, that destroys your smoking habit - resets your beliefs about smoking and corrects your self-image about you as a smoker instantly!

Self Improvement Is A Key To Quitting Smoking

Often smokers ask how to quit smoking? The answer is quit by quitting. If you are soft, and if you show the slightest latitude, you will continue to sail aimlessly in the rudderless boat. You are unlikely to reach your destination.

Don't complain about lack of assistance. Much of the aids and material are available to you in the market today to help you in the process of quitting! These materials will be of use to you only if you have a strong will power. Any pact is useless unless there is a strong will power to implement it.

The most amazing thing about the quality of you the smoker is that you are aware of the fact that you can't escape punishment for your misdeed. The habit of smoking can turn into a life-time suffering in the form of severe diseases or death itself. And yet many smokers have hesitation to quit smoking!

The main problem before you is how to spend the time that you normally spend in smoking. Those long and short intervals of nicotine pull and push!

Now, you need to fill up these gaps with positive activities. The same needs to be done in a systematic manner. If you do not organize this activity properly, there is every chance of you slipping into the nicotine zone again.

You are caught in the net of nicotine, and it is a complicated weave. If you escape from one end, you are trapped at the other end. The situation is somewhat like that. To begin with, try to be strong at the intellectual level. Read lots of anti-smoking literature.

The actual process of coming out of the nicotine net is time-consuming and complicated. Read lots of case studies, regarding the life stories of the suffering of the smokers.

Visit a cancer ward in a hospital and talk to the patients and the doctors. This will have a telling impact on your mind. Your determination to quit smoking will solidify.

Sometimes, simple substitutes work effectively. Buy common cinnamon sticks. They are comfortable to suck. It has the appearance of the cigar. Cinnamon is healthy from the point of view of the health of heart.

When the urge to smoke becomes too much, just get up from that place and go for a brisk walk that will tire you out.

Have a regular schedule of exercise, meditation and breathing exercises. You have to slowly and steadily enhance your internal strength.

This time you must succeed in your stop smoking effort. You are already late, but better late than never!

How To Quit Smoking Successfully With Acupuncture

Many smokers try acupuncture to quit smoking. However, often times they smoke again after the treatment . Does this mean that acupuncture fails to help you stop smoking? What causes the failure when others have succeeded and continue to remain free of smoking for many years after acupuncture treatment?

You may be searching for a magic button to help you quit smoking. However, acupuncture is not a miracle cure.

Acupuncture fails when you fail to deal with your smoking habit and mental withdrawal symptoms such as stress. You need to devise a plan to manage them. You must deal with it. Leave them to chance and you are bound to fail. For instance, if its your habit to smoke after a meal, then replace that habitual activity with a healthy snack. Break whatever patterns that motivate you to smoke and focus your thoughts on other things. If you face stress, don't take the easy way out and smoke. Instead, find alternatives such as massage and relaxation music to calm you.

If you still have the slightest desire to smoke after acupuncture therapy, you will fall into relapse.

If you want to quit smoking completely, you have to do it for yourself. Don't attend acupuncture treatment just to oblige your loved ones that pester you endlessly into quitting smoking. You may quit for some time after the therapy but when the urge gets too strong for you to withstand, you smoke again. Then you tell them that acupuncture doesn't work for you. Quitting smoking for the sake of others doesn't work at all.

Physical withdrawal symptoms happen because of lack of nicotine. You experience dizziness, cough, headache, fatigue, sore throat, and irritation. Acupuncture can help you deal with the physical withdrawal symptom. Directing needles to specific acupressure points, such as ears, can stop the craving for more nicotine. The acupuncturist then removes the needles after 10 to 20 minutes.

Acupuncture stimulates your body into producing endorphins, a good feeling usually associated with smoking. It also helps your body to purge the remaining nicotine in your body.

Most experts suggest that you combine acupuncture with other stop smoking aids such as hypnosis. A combination of different quit smoking methods can increase your success rate of kicking the habit permanently. Nowadays, most acupuncture clinics offer additional aids to help you overcome the habitual and mental aspect of smoking.

Nicotine replacement therapy such as nicotine patch and gum provides controlled dosages of nicotine to your body. Acupuncture doesn't feed you any nicotine. That's the good thing about it. You don't experience any side effects which makes it safe for you. Remember, do it for yourself. Acupuncture can help you to quit smoking if you combine with other methods. Depending on acupuncture alone is possible only if you have strong willpower.

How I Quit Smoking

Programs that claim they can help you quit smoking are a complete waste of money and here's why. By the time you've read the useless advice they offer, you'll quickly realise you've been conned and start reaching for your cigarettes.

Quit smoking programs can seriously damage your wealth

Fellow smokers, light up sit back and read on. It's time to stop wasting money on gimmicky ideas that claim they'll help you quit the dreaded weed. Money that would be better spent on a few multipacks of fags so you can carry on smoking to your heart's (and lungs') content. Don't beat yourself up with thoughts that you're the odd one out with no willpower. Forget their extravagent claims that they and they alone can help you. They're only interested in your money and once they've got it as far as they're concerned you can smoke like a kipper.

But surely something's got to work

Spot on, something has got to work and while I tell you why, go ahead and spark up another cancer stick. The reason these programs can claim to work is the scatter gun approach. In other words if enough smokers are dumb enough to part with their hard earned then a percentage of those are going to manage to give up. Maybe having spent money on a program claiming to help them quit they somehow develop that extra willpower to succeed. I'm convinced it's more to do with the fact that they want to see a return for their money rather than any radical advice contained in the program. Time for another ciggie as we move on - that's a really bad cough you've got there by the way, ever thought about giving up?

I can stop you coughing

Well, when I say I can stop you coughing what I really mean is that I can stop you coughing up your money on quit smoking schemes that don't work. You see I've spent fortunes trying many different methods. Let's start with hypnosis. Does anyone seriously believe this mumbo jumbo works? Here's how it went for me. Some weirdo bombarded me with soothing words, lulled me into a deep sleep and then clicked his fingers to waken me. Well, I don't know about you but the first thing I do when I wake up is have a fag. Nicotine patches were a waste of time as drip feeding me shots of nicotine just made my cravings for a smoke even worse. As for gum, who wants to spend their entire waking life chewing like some morose teenager? Add the cost of the foul stuff and it's no wonder I couldn't wait to light up a cigarette. Talking of which, you must be about ready for another one now.

I'd just about given up

Unfortunately, the only thing I'd just about given up wasn't cigarettes. No, I was on the verge of accepting that there are no sure fire cures, no quick fixes and no cast iron certain methods of quitting. I'd more or less decided that I was destined forever to smell of an old ashtray, to gasp for breath at the slightest physical exercise, to wake up in the morning coughing and spluttering like a misfiring car engine. Then the fickle finger of fate stepped in to change my life around. You see, out of the blue, I ran into an old friend I'd not seen in over ten years. We went to a bar, set up a couple of beers and began reminiscing about the past. Knowing Jim was a smoker I tossed my cigarettes across the table and, to my surprise he tossed them right back at me. Grinning he explained how he'd quit. I couldn't believe it because the Jim I knew was a regular 40 a day man who never showed any inclination to give up. When I asked him how tough it had been he told me it'd been easy, stress free and he'd not even suffered the usual piling on of weight associated with quitting smoking.

at this point I'm going to give you two choices

you can click on that little white cross in the top right hand corner of the screen and light another fag, then another and so on.....

or you can read on and find out how Jim did it

Great, you're still with me so I guess I've helped you give up at least one cigarette - it's a start. I was as intrigued by Jim's story as you obviously are and wanted to know just how he'd quit his 40 a day habit. I'd already done a quick mental calculation that told me he must have been saving himself close on to $2500 per year! If he could do it I figured I could too. Jim explained that two years back he'd suffered a mild heart attack that frightened the living daylights out of him. His doctor pulled no punches and warned him he'd be dead inside a year unless he gave up smoking. He referred Jim to a quit smoking program and told him if he followed it religiously it would teach him in just three hours how to give up cigarettes for good. 'So what did you do Jim?' I asked. With a grin he recalled how he'd gone home and lit a cigarette as he waited for the

program to download on his computer. And believe it or not, that was the last cigarette he ever smoked.

QUIT SMOKING RIGHT NOW

I think you can guess what I did when Jim and I finished reminiscing. Following his tradition I lit what I sincerely hoped would be my last cigarette and studied the program. It was like a breath of fresh air which, to a smoker, is no bad thing! I found it innovative, original and powerful. In fact so convincing was its message that almost without thinking I crumpled up three unopened packs of cigarettes knowing that I'd not be needing them. And so it proved. I'd had my final cigarette thanks to Jim. It worked for me, it worked for Jim and it has worked for thousands of other smokers. Now that you've discovered this opportunity do not waste it. Throw away the cigarettes not the opportunity. What you pay for the program will be recouped many times over from the money you save by not having to buy any more packs of cigarettes. Add to that the healthier lifestyle you'll enjoy and it's a no brainer. Don't pass up this chance, you know it makes total sense. Do it.

Quit Smoking - Try Acupuncture Instead

Over the past few years it has been found that as a good alternative way of helping people who wish to stop smoking. The treatment is carried out by the insertion of needles to various specific points on the patient?s body, including a few points around the outer ear. The way the treatment works is that it is supposed to help reduce the cravings a person feels for a cigarette and to help those who are already on their way to quitting smoking. During the first years when the use of acupuncture was being used for helping people to quit smoking it became quite popular and certainly had a large number of followers who began to recommend it to others.

The main reason for so many people using this method is that is not invasive and is an ideal option for many people who can not or will not take medicines. However, over the last couple of years the use of acupuncture for helping people to quit smoking has significantly been reduced.

There are usually a number of reasons for this occurring and one of the reasons is that the number of people who actually stopped smoking whilst having acupuncture treatment was very minor and it certainly indicated that may be acupuncture is not the best choice for people who really want to quit smoking. Also there have been a number of other solutions that have been introduced such as laser treatment and shot treatment.

However, to conclude it is quite clear that acupuncture has a place as an alternative treatment in stopping smoking and a number of people have reported that they are getting good results using this form of treatment. But if you really want to quit smoking, then there are other alternatives available.

Kerris Samson a work from home mum now residing in Spain and who has spent a vast amount of researching the different ways in which acupuncture can help in place of conventional western medicine when treating various forms of illness and ailments and also for use to relieve pain. Do you wish to quit smoking?

Many a times, we often come across people puffing and enjoying smoking cigarette. Do we feel good when the smoke containing chemicals, insecticides, explosives enters our respiratory system? The answer is going to be no. Then what is the reason that the person who smokes relishes each puff?

There are many reasons; a smoker gives, such as having the feeling that he looks cool or smart while smoking or smoking shall help in weight loss. Some people also give the excuse that they are relieved of the stress while smoking.

All these are myths because smoking can only reduce the life span of a person and lead other person inhaling the smoke prone to lung cancer. It is easy to quit smoking if a person wishes to do so.

The best method is to stop smoking with the help of one's own will power. It is possible by working out a planned therapy but if it becomes hard to quit then medications are also available that help in quitting smoking.

Chantix is one such effective smoking cessation pill that helps quitting smoking easily. It works by blocking the brain receptors that help in continued addiction and lessens the cravings to smoke. Chantix has Varenicline (as the tartrate salt) as its main component, which is a white to off white and slightly yellow solid powder soluble in water.

It is an FDA approved medication and works well but could lead to certain side effects such as Nausea, Sleep disorder, Gas sleeplessness, Constipation, Headache, or Loss of taste.

Another effective method to stop smoking is to follow the basic steps: S=Set a quit date. T=Tell family, friends, and co-workers that you plan to quit. A=Anticipate and plan for the challenges you will face while quitting. R = Remove cigarettes and other tobacco products from your home, car, and work. T = Talk to your doctor about getting help to quit.

How To Help A Friend Quit Smoking!

How To Help A Friend Quit Smoking!

Chances are if you're reading this article, then you probably have a friend or maybe two, that you really feel could benefit from kicking their smoking habit. After all, what benefits are there from smoking anyway? The truth is that your friend has to have a genuine desire and be motivated to really quit, but that's where you can help. Try to explain to your friend the health benefits of not smoking such as adding years to their life span. Not only that, but tell them about the fact that the tobacco industry kills more people between Monday and Thursday each week than the terrorists murdered on September 11, 2001!! Now if that isn't a reason to quit, then I don't know what is! The fact is that you will be a much healthier human being if you quit smoking and your friend should feel very lucky to have someone who cares enough to search for information on how to help a friend stop smoking. In my opinion, based on my own experience trying to quit, there is only one program that I recommend whole-heartedly and if you'd like to check it out or send your friend to check it out, then I urge to please Click Here!
